Numerous staff and higher education students are asking for forms, which we are working on now. It's been full steam ahead to assemble resources for Illinoisans. We are flooded daily with emails and pleas for help all in the name of preserving our basic state and federal liberties. Please know we hear you and stand with you. Chins up. There are numerous forms of advocacy traversing Illinois and it is powerful. It's no wonder given the desperation of our state citizenry to balance the cesspool of IL policy-making. No matter the side of the political aisle, our government has failed our children and threatened the prosperity of our communities. Some parents are demanding masks for all, others are demanding choice. The heightened tensions are an unfortunate consequence of living in this state. There is infighting within the democratic party and infighting within the republican party but we do not have time for this manner of conflict. Case in point...
One group was very eager to align with Awake IL and we welcomed the partnership...until the organizer became combative and adversarial. He has been stalking numerous IL advocates to the point of several having to block his calls. We wish him well but he is increasingly bombastic. Also, he got our website wrong:
Yes, there is tension in the air. It's happening at board of education meetings and beyond. Suddenly the 2022 political candidates and random organizations are coming out of the woodwork to discuss school policies. Where were these voices during the school reopen cause? Many were absent. We, the parents, are the vast majority of Awake IL advocates. Our tireless advocacy began in August 2020 during the unnecessary school shutdowns and we continue turning the tide. Ultimately, the data and the legal protections fall on the side of liberty for all.
Awake IL advocates have been on the receiving end of truly Machiavellian machinations and yet, our efforts are only further fueled. We are a not-for-profit comprised of stay-at-home parents, working parents, retirees, out-of-state volunteers, and numerous others who sincerely want the best for our posterity-the future generation.
Chapters of amazing citizens are mobilizing throughout IL from north to south and east to west. Join the movement. We are Awake IL and they can't cancel us.
