Helen Levinson joins Board of Directors as Vice President
Naperville, Illinois – Awake Illinois welcomes Helen Levinson to the Board of Directors as the newly installed Vice President.
Mrs. Levinson has been actively involved in the Awake IL organization as chair of Awake Niles Township chapter and she also serves as chair of Moms for Liberty Cook County chapter.
Helen succeeds Josh McBroom, who recently resigned from the board to focus on campaigning for Naperville City Council. Awake IL President Shannon Adcock commented, “Thanks to Josh’s leadership and insight, our organization grew from one to thirty statewide chapters in a year. We greatly appreciate his commitment to parental rights advocacy. It has been an honor serving with him on the board and we wish him a successful campaign for Naperville City Council. He will serve the community with integrity.”
Awake IL Director Steve Lucie shared, “Josh is a great leader and I salute him for his service to the board. Helen is a fantastic advocate to fill the board role as we continue awakening Illinois on issues affecting our children and communities. They both have our appreciation and respect.”
Helen resides in Skokie with her husband of 20 years and 13-year-old daughter, who attends Fairview South Elementary in Skokie. Their older son is 26, a Niles West graduate, and lives in Tampa selling investment real estate. Helen's parents migrated from Jordan in 1969, and raised their family on the Northside of Chicago. Her parents were incredible role models, teaching their daughters that tenacity, discipline, hard work and dedication is the key to success. She has a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and is a trained software engineer who works as an enterprise sales executive for a company based out of Palo Alto, California.
Upon the announcement, Helen shared, "I am grateful and proud to be a part of the Awake IL board and look forward to joining a team that works hard every day to elevate voices of concerned parents. Advocacy work is not easy. I have big shoes to fill from my predecessor, so I'm excited to help Shannon and Steve grow the organization to the next level of parental rights, civic advocacy and philanthropy."
The mission of Awake Illinois is to empower citizens to advocate on issues affecting our families and communities. Awake Illinois continues to see exponential grassroots growth as Illinois citizens awaken to respectful advocacy while advancing liberty and justice for all.
